Leather mini & vest
Leather was popular in the 1970s. While some makers developed sophisticated patterning and sewing techniques it was also used by many with more of a handcraft approach. Hides could be cut, holes punched and then the whole thing could be put together using leather laces. This lacing technique was applied to garments such as this mini and vest but also used to make bags, hats and all manner of leather garment. The maker of this set was based in an old house on Parnell Road in Auckland and made this to order for Anna.
