Halter-neck dress with 16 gore skirt

This evening dress was made by Malcolm Harrison for his sister-in-law, Adrienne Harrison, to wear to a prize giving function in Napier. Malcolm studied pattern making and sewing at night school before establishing his own business in the 1960s - Jasper Johnson's Jamboree boutique in Takapuna. He designed evening gowns, wedding dresses and bespoke garments. He later closed the store to concentrate on a career as a fabric artist. In 2004 Malcolm was selected as the inaugural recipient of the annual $65,000 Creative New Zealand Craft/Object Fellowship.
