This dress, labelled Maree de Maru, was designed by Vinka Lucas who had a retail store on Queen Street in Auckland. Vinka didn’t possess any garments in dull colours. She recalled with enjoyment the vibrant Croatian celebrations of her girlhood and genuinely wanted her clients to relish the colourful impact she was able to provide. Vinka wore this dress when her family was photographed by Mike Williston in 1979.
