Classic Gowns was one of the labels made by Auckland company, Classic Manufacturing. In the 1940s, when this advertising photograph was taken by Clifton Firth, Classic was based in two central Auckland buildings - the offices in the T&G Building in Elliott Street and the workrooms in the Sun Building on Albert Street.
