Straw hat with swathed fabric crown

Fleur Young was working as a milliner's apprentice when she was called on to model in a fashion parade. She later set up her own millinery salon but during the 1950s and 1960s Fleur became known as a hat model. Fashion writers waxed lyrical about this 'milliner’s delight'. "The slim, expressive-faced Fleur Young is one of those fortunate people who can wear any hat ever designed – and with distinction," wrote one.
