Karen Walker Cosmo printed blouse and Runaway flare jeans, 2010's

Karen Walker is well known for referencing vintage styles and making them her own, and this ensemble comes from a period where bold, graphic prints and seventies styling dominated her collections.

This Cosmo star print featured in her SS16 collection, shown at New York Fashion Week in 2015, visible here.

The blouse, made from silk crepe de chine has a slight kimono reference to the deep V-neckline and ease of fit, which contrasts with the high waisted, tight-then-flared 70s silhouette of the jeans. The distinctive topstitched, crest shaped pockets became a signature of KW denim, and featured not only on jeans, but shorts and denim skirts from this same era. This style also featured again in following collections once this original iteration proved so popular.
