Printed red satin dress with back lacing
Fiona Carter purchased this dress in 1976 for a Christmas party. She remembers seeing it in the window of the Queen Street Hullabaloo store and deciding she wanted it. She went into the shop and there were none left in her size so she asked the sales assistant if she could try on the one in the window. The shop assistant said no, she could come back in the following week when they were changing the window display. Fiona insisted as she wanted to wear it the following evening. Finally, after much discussion, the assistant agreed reluctantly to retrieve it from the window display. Fiona wore the dress many times over the following years and it became a favourite. She kept it imagining that her daughter would love it, however she did not. Now Fiona hopes her granddaughters will love the dress, as it will definitely be very retro by the time they are grown up.
