Princess ballgown with full skirt

This advertisement for Silvalyne Gowns features a photograph of Nancy Invine modelling a princess ballgown. This style of ballgown was inspired by the 1939 movie, Gone with the Wind. The very full skirt was supported by at least one petticoat. Women wore strapless bras and bra/girdle combinations under the off-the-shoulder style bodices.
