Milady Styles mod flapper little black dress, 1960s

Much like how today's fashion references 'retro' styling, the same happened in decades past. This 1960s black cocktail dress by Milady Styles, with dropped waist and ruffled skirt, follows a trend that was popular in the early-mid 1960s of referencing the original modern era, the 1920s. The two decades had many parallels, including rapid social change and rising hemlines.

The thin and floaty silk chiffon is backed with a soft taffeta lining in the main body of the dress, with the ruffles sewn in rows from its low hemline to its high hem, creating a youthful yet sophisticated party dress. The neckline is accentuated with a satin ribbon bow and small diamanté buckle.
