Kutu hand woven wool dress, 1978

Creator of this piece, Margaret Slatter writes: "I spun, wove and sewed this garment. It is a kutu, a style originating from Bali. A dance group did a show, dancing -all wearing one eachThis Kutu was highly commended in the Woolgrower's Award for Handcrafted Wool Fashion category in the Benson and Hedges Fashion Design Awards in 1978which was amazing for this country kid!

I also did a lot of kiwi craft. A shawl (almost fine enough for the old wedding ring test) is somewhere in the QEII Art Collection."
