Habotai silk shirt and panné velvet flares

Susan Holmes made this silk shirt shortly after she began to work full time with fabric in 1971, selling her designs from the Auckland craft market, Brown's Mill. Wendy Ganley began her label Elle from a small workroom in Hamilton, but by the early 1970s, she had three stores – one in Hamilton and two in Auckland. Read more about 1970s fashion in the New Zealand Fashion Museum publication
