Netball travelling uniform jacket

This jacket was designed by two unidentified Wellington School of Design students, who were pleased with the design but not the construction, as a note on the jacket reads: "looked great but major difficulties in the making". Joan Solia wore the jacket as part of her travelling uniform for the 8th World Netball Championships, held in Sydney, Australia, in 1991. The 1991 final between sporting rivals Australia and New Zealand is considered one of the greatest games of the modern era. Australia trailed by one or two goals for much of the match, but in the last few minutes, lifted their game and defeated New Zealand 53–52 to win the world title.
