Kelsi Bennett’s graduation collection in 2014 drew on her childhood memories growing up in the 1990s.
She juxtaposed various textures and weights of fabric in printed and solid colours, and many featured glow-in-the-dark embroidery and embroidered patches. Forms reminiscent of biker or leather jackets printed with a mesmerising motif were teamed with gauzy spotted net shirts.
Kelsi approached her designing with a nostalgic and humorous eye, and a love of handcraft, and craftsmanship. Kelsi was selected as a finalist in the 2015 iD International Emerging Designer Awards and will also show her 2014 graduation collection on the catwalk at the iD Dunedin Fashion Show in April 2015.
