Hand-painted silk crepe de chine top

In 1971, Susan Holmes started making and selling hand printed and dyed garments. She experimented with fabric, developing treatments like block printing, stencilling and spraying, ombré dip-dye, crinkle silk and shibori. In the 1980s when this top was made, Susan was incorporating some of the design features of the era, like bat-wing sleeves and abstract prints.
