Crystalline dress

Cybèle Wiren’s mother and grandmother taught her the basics, on a treadle sewing machine and her father’s weaving business provided a supply of beautiful fabric off-cuts and bindings for projects and play. For Cybèle, the pleasure in creating clothes is the combination of the mathematics of pattern making and the craft based skills of sewing and construction. This dress is an almost zero waste cut that is cleverly manipulated to create shape and a flattering drape. The sewing pattern and make instructions for this dress are included in the book Home Sewn, which can be purchased from the New Zealand Fashion Museum shop.
