Cocktail dress with back bows

The 'Polly Peck' label was the creation of Raymond Zelker and his wife Sybil, who founded a small fashion house in London in 1940. 'Polly Peck' garments were readily available in New Zealand where they were manufactured under licence. Valerie McDonald bought this dress in 1957 to wear to her 21st birthday party, which also marked her engagement.
