Air New Zealand white crimplene uniform

In the late 1960s Jennifer Mann, an Air New Zealand Auckland Airport traffic staff member, designed a new uniform for the ground front line staff. The uniform was a more suitable weight for female ground staff and consisted of a white crimplene two piece. It was introduced for traffic receptionists in January 1969 and for booking officers in 1970. The round neckline dress is pin-tucked to a low waist line, then under a band of dark blue and turquoise, the skirt breaks into a gored A-line. The V neckline cardigan-style jacket is in white crimplene with dark blue and turquoise piped edging. Stripes in dark blue and turquoise form the band running across the jacket, and the buttons feature company colours. The turquoise hat is similarly piped in dark blue and white. For winter, staff in areas other than the tropics return to their Dior-designed turquoise uniforms.
